Those who know me would recognise excellent interpersonal skills;  a sympathetic, friendly and constructive approach to problem solving; great attention to detail, accuracy and legal compliance; high ethical and moral standards; and complete client confidentiality in all I do.

I have been practising as a Human Resources professional for more than a decade, building on a career as an engineer and manager.

I qualified initially as a graduate Chemical Engineer in 1972, and joined the chemical industry on Teesside as a Process Engineer.  I practised as a chemical engineer, becoming a Chartered Engineer and MIChemE.  Following project and team management roles, and work both in the UK and overseas, the Institution of Chemical Engineers recognised my experience by awarding me the status of Fellow – FIChemE.

Through the 90’s I became progressively more interested and involved in the people, rather than in the technology, and I made a career change decision, taking up a role as Human Resources Manager.  In this role I had a team of HR professionals working for and with me, serving the HR needs of up to 400 staff from all levels of the organisation and a very wide range of professions.

I now really enjoy using my professional HR skills to help others. Because of my history  have the perspectives both of the employer and manager, and of the advisor and consultant.

I have been trained in and developed many specialist skills. Some examples:

Coaching

Counselling

Presentation

Interviewing

Competency based interviewing

Use of the HBDI
